Corinne Yee – Director/ Choreographer

Corinne trained in RAD ballet and NZAMD jazz from the age of seven.

She began teaching and choreographing musicals and performances at fifteen. Corinne has danced in theatre performances, television commercials and music videos and choreographed for full-scale commercial shows in Auckland. In 1993 she taught dance and choreographed performances at the Royal Masonic School for Girls in England.

In 1999 Corinne passed her Advanced 3 and Solo Seal American Jazz Dance examinations with Honours.
She was awarded the Mary Evers Memorial Scholarship as the most deserving Advanced student in New Zealand.

Corinne is currently the Director of JazzAddict Australasia and Head Jazz Teacher and Director of the Victoria Phillips Academy of Dance, a dance school of over 1,000 students specialising in jazz, hip-hop, contemporary and ballet technique. In 2002, Corinne’s Academy was presented the Studio Choreography Award at the New Zealand regionals of the Australian Showcase Competitions.Her students have won many major awards including ‘Junior Duo Title’ at the Australian Showcase Competition Finals and ‘Runner Up’ and ‘Winner’ of the Ora Burnett Senior Jazz Award at the Auckland Caledonian Competitions.

Corinne co-developed the Broken Beat Dance Syllabus and was previous co-director of the Australasian Dance Association.  She is also the Founder of ‘Top Tots’ (early learning dance education for pre-schoolers).

A number of Corinne’s students have consistently been awarded top examination results in New Zealand for their Examinations. Corinne also holds a Bachelor of Communications.

Corinne continues in her passion to develop and promote dance education programmes to the dance sector.
