Newsletter – October 2010

Hi everyone,

Welcome to our last newsletter of the year, I hope you like the new name “The Beat on the Street”.

Last week saw the last of examinations for 2010.  Congratulations on yet another year of overall improvement with syllabus work.

Attachments to this email:

Deadline for annual registrations:   1 December 2010 (a late fee of $25 applies to registrations received after this date).

Syllabus Orders

We will be closed down from 14th December – 2nd January and then again from 16th January – 22nd January, so if you require any syllabus orders prior to this date, please advise asap.  I will be contactable on mobile from time to time but will not have access to syllabus stock during this ‘close-down’ period.

Examinations

Congratulations to all top mark students and studios (see separate sheet).   The marks are getting extremely high for some individuals with many in the high 90s.

The scholarship monetary award is made up of $150 plus the refund for the cost of the examination.  Two certificates per student will be provided – one for the student and one for the studio to display if they wish.  Cheques and certificates will be distributed prior to term 1 2011.  Scholarship awards are in $NZ.

Studio Scholarships

A reminder that the scholarship cheques will be payable to the studio rather than to the student.  We believe that a socially responsible studio will know best how to disperse the award money depending on their situation (as all studios are different).  The studio will choose how to allocate funds (ie. the studio may wish to recognise the teacher and give the teacher a bonus out of the scholarship fund or you may wish to put the scholarship money against the winning students’ account toward tuition fees to ensure it is put back into dance education).  However the funds are dispersed it is important that only those directly involved should benefit (ie. studio, teacher, student) and we highly recommend that the student should receive at least their examination refund plus part (if not all) of the scholarship payment.

Medical Refunds

All medical refunds have been reimbursed for injured and ill examination candidates who were unable to sit examinations.

Examination Receipts

Receipts for examination entries will be sent out by email later this week.

Reports/ Certificates

Apart from the studio who sat examinations this month, all schools should have received their student reports and certificates.

New Website

The new Jazzaddict website is currently under construction and will go ‘live’ before the end of the year. You will find there are many additional features which will be of use to you.  Watch this space…

This is a very involved examination which requires many hours of first aid and teaching prerequisite work, an oral examination and a practical examination. The knowledge and skills gained, combined with the feedback from the examiner, will stand the teachers in good stead in and out of  the classroom.

Workshop 2012

Our next workshop is in January 2012.  Dates will be forthcoming as soon as the ‘Sydney Dance Company’ can take a booking.

Thank you for all your hard work with your students this year and we look forward to another successful year in 2011.

All the best for the remainder of term 4, your shows and the silly season!

Regards
